Each year, Columbia Pi Mu Epsilon invites eligible students to join Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society. Membership is by application and chapter election through the Columbia chapter.
National minimum eligibility for undergraduate membership typically includes completion of two semesters of calculus (or equivalent), plus two additional mathematics courses at or above the calculus level (counting toward the mathematical sciences major), and a 3.0 GPA or higher in the qualifying mathematics coursework.
Beyond induction, we welcome all Columbia and Barnard students to attend our events—talks, problem sessions, reading groups, and community gatherings built around proof, problem-solving, and mathematical conversation. If you’re unsure whether your coursework qualifies, reach out—we’re happy to help you check eligibility.
For inquiries about membership eligibility, nominations, or events, contact our board members Iz Tecúm (ilt2109@columbia.edu), and Dmytro Prosiannikov (dp3312@columbia.edu)
Applications for the Induction Class of 2025-2026 will open in early March.
