The Oldest Mathematics Honor Society in the United States
Pi Mu Epsilon
Pi Mu Epsilon is the national mathematics honor society. Founded in 1914, the society promotes mathematical scholarship, recognizes academic achievement, and supports mathematical activities through chapters across the United States. At Columbia, we’re rebuilding a chapter that brings students together around proof, problem-solving, and mathematical conversation — through talks, study sessions, outreach, and community events that make serious math feel accessible and alive.
