Augustine of Hippo was a late antique theologian and philosopher whose writing shaped how the West talks about interiority, memory, time, and the will. I keep him here because Confessions is one of the cleanest examples of sustained self-audit I know.

context

Despite originally coming from a more athletic background, what ultimately left the greatest impact on me were the latter years of my high school journey.

My late secondary education in particular left an eye-opening impression. I graduated from two very functionally different high schools and the experience was not linear or “standard.” Parts of it felt like an uphill battle based on resources, and other parts were intense and weirdly high-level because of a sudden influx of support.

I applied to college as a financial independent. At Columbia, that’s not common at all.

Since arriving to Columbia, I have been fortunate to receive various scholarships and recognitions that have alleviated financial burdens and allowed me to focus on my academic and personal growth.
